First and foremost Mr. Lawrence would like to thank God for blessing him with this talent and the strength to pursue his dreams. Originally from Rocky Mount, NC growing up he always found it difficult to communicate with people because of his speech impediment. But after doing some research on people who stutter he discovered that many performers he's admired stuttered as well. Some examples of famous people are James Earl Jones, Samuel L. Jackson and Sam Neil whom all share his condition. (ref: Celebrity Stutterers) A condition which proves to be detrimental in individuals pursuing their dreams in life. Knowing this helped inspired Torrey to pursue acting and with that inspiration he has never looked back since. Mr. Lawrence’s first play was in William Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew”, performed in March 2000, where he only had one line saying “Mistress your father praises that you leave your books and help dress your sisters chamber up you know tomorrow is the wedding day”.  Ever since that moment his ambition has only grown in the pursuit of his passion, acting. Torrey B. Lawrence has performed many times in various roles in theater, film, television and mass media.
